The Ban Beater

One of the trails I am mapping is the reclaimation of our grey water. To use the 'used' water from our washing machine, dishwasher, dishwashing, and baths and showers to help us water the garden or for outside use.

This little gadget, the Ban Beater, is not a pump but a syphon which allows to you to, with an easy swish of your hand, cause your bath water to flow through the hose and out to the large container, which then is at your disposal for watering your flowers, gardens, and lawns.

This is a marvelous product (albeit a tad expensive), made from recycled materials, and starts paying for itself the minute you begin using it. The inventor said he came up with the idea because of a drought they were experiencing and his need to water the garden- hence the name, the Ban Beater.

While I don't see me purchasing this in the very near future, a similar set up could be constructed by homesteading visionaries. A few inexpensive materials (hose, syphon, and container- hopefully made out of recycled or reclaimed materials) and you could start reclaiming your shower, bath, and washing water for use outside. Great idea!

I have to say this one is very interesting. We spent around $70.00 a month watering our garden this year. Ofcourse, we are in a drought but I have often wondered how we could be recycling our grey water for the gardening.
Blessings,
Trixi
